  How are child abuse laws different from Watchtower corporate policy?

  is the watchtower more concerned with their image to the "world" than they are to the safety of children within their religion?.

  In California and other states it is the law to report sexual abuse or abuse of any kind of children.

  On line 4( a ) they are called "Mandated Reporters in Puplic Positions" under "Clergy Members" and "Any Custodian of Records of a Clery Member".

  I can't wrap my head around the WTS reasoning for their rules for handling such matters. The three witness rule would apply to adults, doesn't it? Wasn't it grownups/adults who were waging law suits with one another? Not children who are being rapped by adults. So how can they reason this?

  They claim to be caretakers of Jah's people and children. Even if the didn't have to officially report crimes due to clergy privledge, just to make sure the congregations were not harmed/cleaned, why not report an abuse to police to let the proper authroities investiage. You can't be sued if a child wages an accusation, investigate and keep a police investigation private in the congregation.

  It seems they can side step or get around red tape to do their preaching work, but have not real caring or justice for humans who are supposed to be Jah's people.

  It feels as the GB has taken their position as too loftly for their own good, putting their rules above what's really right not to harm people or stain Gods name.

  this really means a lot to her.

  she wants you to know that she is coping well with all the stress and excitement, even though she's had years of anger and frustration because of being abused for so long, first by the molester, and then by the wt.

  i hadn't heard back from my friends, friends, who work for the news media (i'm impatient) so i called three major news tip lines and actually was able to speak to someone!

  i urge you to do the same if you can.

  i gave them the case number, location and award amount paid to a single person.

  if possible it would be great to send a copy of the new "shepherding" book and the recent confidentiality letter to contacts in the media.

  the society will try to paint this as an isolated case and that it is in no way related to their policies.

  the documents mentioned above show that this is not the case.. what is next?

  the plaintiff, candace conti's goal from the very beginning was to bring enough attention to this problem to incentivize watchtower to change its policy of secrecy.

  the award can be explained as it was decided: separate compensatory and punitive damages.

  the punitive award is established in law to punish wrongdoing - here, the conscious disregard for others - and deter that conduct in the future.

  BizzyBee THANK YOU for posting this file!!! This moring I was trying to search google for a penal codes in LA regarding reporting child sexual about the reporting of it.

  It seems to me with the recent letter the WTS sent out to all Elders regarding protocal of handling such matters, encouraging them to go to the WTS first instead of the police, is an infrigment and violation of human rights and the law.

  Watchtower's April 9 BOE Confidentiality Letter - Child Abuse - Did Jane Doe lawsuit play a major part?

  i'd bet my left.... pinky toe that the wt's monster 4/9 confidentiality letter was put out as a direct result of the jane doe/candace vs wt case as they were preparing to go to trial.

  there had already been a year of legal proceedings - surely the wt knew the shit was about to hit the fan.. thanks goes to atlantis for posting the boe letters originally as pdfs.

  the person that a restraining order is a personal legal matter that does not involve the congregation.. thereafter, the elders should call the legal department immediately for direction..

  It does seem fishy the WTS Mobsters sends out that letter on the heels of the recent court case.

  I would think this letter can/would incriminate the WTS of interfering/create a hindrance to an investigation, instead of calling police first when a crime is commited, the elders call the WTS. It seems too much can happen and time laps between an incident and an elder calling the WTS which could interfear with an actual investigation........
